The Texas Women in Parkour Project

QM's. There's an 9-foot drop on the other side :).

Texas is a BIG state, and we have some incredibly diverse and talented traceuses. As co-director of Urban Movement and one of only a handful of women who train parkour in Houston, it is my intention to share that with the world through photos, video, articles, and events. We had our first photo shoot a few weeks ago, corresponding with Laurent Piemontesi’s Texas tour. Traceuses from Dallas and Austin came to Houston to have their brilliance captured by photographer Anthony Rathbun in Texas Women in Parkour -Volume 1

There will be other shoots to follow, and I’d love to hear from women practitioners in Texas that I have yet to meet. Urban Movement is hosting a Parkour Generations Workshop in Houston the weekend of February 17th, 2012 that will include a women’s jam/workshop led by Shirley Darlington. This would be a great opportunity for women from El Paso, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, and those from Dallas and Austin who didn’t get to make it last go ’round to participate in this community building project. Bring it on, sisters!
